I've seen people down under mention that everything with Salesforce is slower because all the data is in teh US. Looks like that will be changing in teh furture with the addition of Salesforce’s Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, App Cloud, Community Cloud and Analytics Cloud running in AWS Sydney region.
