  1. Brett, Instead of backup on an external hard drive, how about Cloud backup? My laptop motherboard got an issue and Lenovo told, they cannot recover data (It was an X1 Carbon Utrabook). Since they I do not store anything on the harddrive

    1. I also use online or cloud back up for many of my files. this was the first time I used the restore feature on the Mac and it was way more convenient than I remember the Windows version of a restore being.

      I plugged in the external drive, clicked a few buttons and was back to being able to work in a few hours. I didn’t have to reinstall anything or setup anything, it was incredibly painless.

      Now the Windows version of this could have improved as well since I last tried it but I probably won’t be finding that out myself 🙂
